It depends on space and availability. Priority is given to those who first submit a Transportation Request Form. However, some routes will still have space available. Please submit the Transportation Request Form as soon as possible. We will add additional students to routes as space becomes available.

Information about your pick-up and drop-off time will be listed on your approval form. Over the summer you will receive a mailing with:

1. Bus Rules
2. Bus Pass
3. Emergency Contact Form
4. Approved Transportation Request Form

To board the bus, students will need to have their valid and up-to-date bus pass with them to present to the bus driver. This pass will be mailed to each student with an approved Transportation Request Form by the Transportation Department in early August.

All student pick-up and drop-off times and locations are listed on the student’s approved Transportation Request Form. The bus will depart and return at the listed times. 

Pre-K through 3rd grade students will only be released to their parent or guardian. 4th through 8th grade do not need to be met by a parent or guardian.

Any changes to the routes and schedules will be shared directly with families that are impacted by the changes to that specific route.

If you live outside of district boundaries you will only receive transportation if it is required based on your student's Special Education Services.

For the safety and the safety of others, the following regulations apply at all times when students are waiting at the bus stop and are riding on the school bus, including school activity trips.

1. Riders shall follow the instructions and directions of the bus driver at all times.
2. Riders should arrive at the bus stop 5-10 Minutes prior to Pick Up time and stand in a safe place at least 12  feet from the curb and wait for the bus. 
3. All students, parents, Guardians of students waiting for the School Bus Stop should be mindful and stay off private property.
4. All students will be dropped off at their bus stop. All Pre- K- Kindergarten through 3rd grade Students must be met by an adult, or legal guardian, The Transportation Services Branch will not leave elementary school-age children in third grade or below unattended at drop-off locations for student safety. Drivers do not allow elementary school-age children in third grade or below to disembark without determining if an authorized receiving person is present.
5. Riders shall not move towards the bus until the bus has stopped and the entrance door has fully opened and signaled by the driver to enter the bus in an orderly manner and go directly to their seats.
6. Riders shall remain seated while the bus is in motion and shall not obstruct the aisle with their legs, feet, or other objects. When reaching their destination, riders shall remain seated until the bus stops and only then enter the aisle and go directly to the exit.
7. Riders should be courteous to the driver and to fellow passengers.
8. Because serious safety hazards can result from noise or behavior that distracts the driver, loud talking, laughing, yelling, singing, whistling, scuffling, throwing objects, smoking, eating, drinking, standing and changing seats are prohibited actions which may lead to suspension of riding privileges.
9. No part of the body, hands, arms or head should be put out of the window. Nothing should be thrown from the bus.
10. Riders shall help keep the bus and the area around the bus stop clean. Riders shall not damage or deface the bus or tamper with bus equipment and shall be responsible for the costs of any necessary repairs or replacement. 
11. No animals shall be allowed on the bus, with the exception of Licensed Service Animals. Parents must contact the Transportation Department at 408-928-6975 to make such arrangements for Licensed Service Animals to be on the bus with their child.
12. Riders should be alert for traffic when leaving the bus.
13. All passengers in a school bus or in a school pupil activity bus shall use the passenger restraint system, if so equipped.
14. AR 5131.1 (Bus Conduct)The Superintendent or designee shall supervise the use and maintenance of video cameras. Students and staff shall not tamper or interfere with video camera equipment on school buses. Camera supports shall be installed in all buses, and cameras shall be rotated among the buses and activated at the discretion of the Superintendent or designee. The Superintendent or designee shall routinely review videotapes taken on school buses and shall document any evidence of student misconduct. Two weeks after this review, the Superintendent or designee may erase any tapes that do not show incidents of misconduct. Tapes retained as part of an individual student’s disciplinary record shall be maintained in accordance with law and Board policy governing the access, review and release of student records. Tapes retained as part of an expulsion record are nonprivileged, disclosable public records pursuant to Education Code 48918. 

Riders who fail to comply with the above rules shall be reported to the school and the Bus Driver will report to the principal, who shall determine the severity of the misconduct and take action accordingly. 

In all instances of misconduct, the rider and his/her parent/guardian shall be given notice and warning. 

In the case of a severe violation or repeated offenses, the rider may be denied transportation for a period of time determined by the principal, up to the remainder of the school year.

Bus drivers shall not deny transportation except as directed by the principal.

For the 2025-2026 School Year, students and families that 1) submitted their Transportation Request Form and 2) met the following criteria and are eligible for transportation:

• Students were enrolled at one of the following schools in the 2024-2025 School Year: 

  • Aptitud (5th - 7th Graders)

  • Cassell
  • Cureton
  • Dorsa
  • George
  • Hubbard (5th - 7th Graders)
  • Meyer
  • Renaissance at Fischer
• Students were impacted by the school closures and consolidation process
• Submitted a Transportation Request Form by June 29, 2025
• Please note: No application is guaranteed. Only the bus route options provided on the form will be considered and a student needs to be currently enrolled at a closing school to request transportation. 
   

What to Expect After Form Submission

After form submission, the Transportation Department will process your form and will contact you using the email provided after the deadline with a decision and additional information. Please check your email over the summer for updates on the application.
