If your child is one of my students, he/she has my cell number (and the guidelines for use).
Email is the best way to reach me.  I commit to responding to all emails within 24 hours, usually sooner.
If calling is your preference, please do not call the classroom directly during the school day.  The best times to reach me in the classroom are between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. (although sometimes I may have yard duty) and between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.    My classroom is used for the extended day program, so calling after school is not really an option.
    Welcome to my classroom webpage!

It's another GREAT DAY to be at George Middle School.  I LOVE teaching and I especially love teaching 6th grade math and science.
My original college experience included an Associates degree in Nutrition/Culinary Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  Prior to teaching, I spent several years working in Accounting/Finance/IT in companies such as Applied Materials, International Network Services, Informatica Corporation, and LifeScan, Inc.  After the tragedy of 9/11, I made the choice to change my investment of time and energy, and went back to school to become a teacher.  I earned my teaching credential and a Master of Education in Multicultural Education at National University in San Jose, CA.
The 2014/2015 school year is my 12th year teaching.  I have loved the journey and have never regretted my decision.  For me, teaching is more than just the academia...it's about the whole student.  Each student has potential for excellence and needs to know that someone believes in them.  I believe in them!  During seven of my years of teaching, I chose to work with students who had struggled with math and had learned to fear everything about math.  It thrills me to my core to watch those students gain confidence and actually look forward to math class.  I continue to strive to make math be something that can be embraced and not feared.
My approach to teaching science is not much different than math.  It is my goal to make earth science relevant and even fun.  We do a variety of different activities that will reinforce concepts as well as create great memories of 6th grade.
Outside of the classroom, I am a regular person.  I enjoy adventure and being outside.  One of my personal goals is to go camping once a month, at least ten times every year.  So far, I am on target for 2014.    I have two dogs, Duke (13) and Chico (6), both are rescue shih-tzus and usually make me smile.  They, too, enjoy camping...well, they are happy to just be with me wherever that may be!

I am an avid SF Giants fan...and have been for several decades, the last five years have been quite exciting!   I also enjoy watching football.  The 49ers is my team of choice for the NFL and the USC Trojans is my team of choice in the NCAA.
My life motto is: "If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!"   I hope to instill a sense of courage and spirit of adventure in my students.
