Assessments
Assessment Plans for Teachers
Teachers use multiple measures to understand what their students know and what they need to know. On a day to day basis, teachers may use classroom observations, check for understanding strategies, and more to adjust their instruction.
They also use our local formative assessments three times a year to gauge academic progress:
- Benchmark Level Screener (reading level)
- ESGI (foundational reading skills)
- FastBridge (reading/math overall skills)
- Imagine Learning (reading and math)
Each year students in grades 3rd though 8th take the statewide Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments which are part of the state testing system called the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress or CAASPP.
On the CAASPP-Parent Resources tab you will find more information and resources regarding statewide assessments. These tests provide parents/guardians, teachers, and educators with information about how well students are learning and becoming college and career ready. The test results may be used for local, state, and federal accountability purposes.
