Our Commitment to Immigrant Students and Families

The ARUSD Board of Trustees approved resolution 38-24/25 reaffirming support for all ARUSD students regardless of immigration status.

Regardless of a student or family’s immigration status, we are committed to both providing and protecting equal access to public education in our schools.

  • ARUSD will not provide assistance to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the enforcement of federal civil immigration law and mandates.
  • ARUSD closely protects student and family education records and personal information in accordance to the law.
  • ARUSD provides all children to equal access to free public education, regardless of their or their parents’/guardians’ immigration status.
  • ARUSD does not ask or record a family’s citizenship/immigration status and it is never needed for school enrollment

Please know, federal and state laws protect student education records and personal information. These laws require that schools get written consent from parents or guardians before releasing student information, unless the release of information is for educational purposes, is already public, or is in response to a court order or subpoena.

Below you will find resources that our district has for students and families, guidance for staff, and additional immigration support resources.
